Character Illustration
Who:
Monster of the Month is an imaginary series of children’s books and merchandise. Each month the homes of enthusiastic subscribers receive a delivery of books, stickers, and related swag.

What:
The fictitious client sought an iconic character illustration for the month of March. The design needed to be gender neutral with a monster that appeals to children ages 4 to 12. The request includes a sticker sheet, action poses, and a mascot style title design.
Result:
To meet Monster of the Month’s criteria I crafted The Strange One-Fanged Wigglebeast to be a cute, expressive, and fun monster. I selected the palette of purple and yellow to reflect the custom colors used to represent non-binary individuals. I designed several scenes and a variety of emotions are featured to tell the story of the monster and keep young readers engaged. My short animation of the monster hunting is included with the deliverables.
created with Adobe Illustrator and After Effects.
